What it is

Personal care covers the parts of the day that are hard to manage alone. That might be getting up, showering and dressing. It might be cooking dinner or keeping the house running. Help is given with respect. We take time to get to know you.

You decide what you would rather do yourself. We help with the rest. If you want to take on more of your routine, we work toward it with you. That might be making your own breakfast or doing the weekly shop.

What it looks like

What this looks like day to day

  • Given with dignity

Personal care is personal. We take our time, respect your privacy and do things the way you like them done.

  • A say in who supports you

Tell us what matters to you in a support worker. If someone is not the right fit, we look at a change.

  • Working toward doing more

We help you build daily skills at your pace. We step back when you are ready.

How we work

How we work together

We start by listening. Then we change things as your goals change.

  1. We start with a conversation

We ask what you need, what you would rather do yourself and what feels comfortable.

  2. We match you with a worker

We look at skills, interests and personality, and ask what matters to you.

  3. Support starts

We agree on times that suit your routine and introduce your support workers.

  4. We check in and adjust

We check your goals with you and change your support as you grow. If you want, your family hears how it is going.

Can I choose who supports me?

You have a say. Tell us what matters to you in a support worker. If someone is not the right fit, we will talk it through and look at a change.

Can you help me do more for myself?

Yes, if that is your goal. We agree on the skills you want to build. Then we practise them with you in your everyday routine.
