Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to use this website. That includes people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnifiers or voice control. This statement is from Altura Care Pty Ltd.

Standard we build to

We are building this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. A full check against the standard has not been done yet. So we do not claim that the site fully meets it.

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, Level AA. WCAG 2.2 has been a W3C standard since October 2023. It is the current version.

A newer version, WCAG 3.0, is still a draft. The W3C says it will not be a finished standard for some years. We keep an eye on it. For now, we build to WCAG 2.2 because it is the standard we can test against today.

How we test

We check the website at two points:

  • Every time the site is built. Automated tools (axe-core and W3C HTML validation) check every page. They look for missing labels, heading order, page landmarks and similar issues. A build with a serious issue cannot go live.
  • Before each release. A person checks the site in a web browser. They use Lighthouse to test colour contrast and the size of buttons and links. They also move through every button, link and form using only a keyboard.

Automated tools cannot find every barrier. Passing them does not mean a site meets WCAG. Some things can only be judged by a person, such as whether help is easy to find on every page. We check those by hand.

Known limitations

This website does not currently include tools from other companies, such as booking systems or payment forms. If we add one later, it may not meet the same standard. If it causes a barrier, we will raise it with that company. We will also give you another way to do the task.

Tell us about a barrier

If you find something on this website that you cannot use, please tell us. Let us know the page you were on and what happened. We will reply as soon as we can. You can also call us if that is easier.

If you are not happy with our reply, you can contact the Australian Human Rights Commission. It handles complaints under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (Cth).
